Glen Eira Leisure is growing and we’re looking for a dynamic professional to lead the delivery of inclusive, engaging and well-run sports and leisure programs across our three vibrant venues: Glen Eira Sports and Aquatic Centre (GESAC), Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool and Caulfield Recreation Centre.

About the Role

This is a hands-on, leadership-focused position that supports the Programs Coordinator to plan and deliver sports competitions, manage external venue hires, coordinate events and ensure safety, quality and customer satisfaction across GEL’s sporting and leisure operations.

You will directly lead staff, manage stakeholder relationships and coordinate compliance requirements, while contributing to the strategic growth and sustainability of our leisure programs.

 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate the delivery of GEL’s sports competitions, including rosters, referees/umpires, support staff and venue logistics.
  • Manage stadium bookings and support external user groups to ensure a high standard of service and compliance.
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of events, from community tournaments to inclusive programs and special activations.
  • Ensure safe, clean and functional facilities, liaising with maintenance and compliance teams as needed.
  • Perform hazard and risk assessments and contribute to a proactive risk culture.
  • Manage budgets, quotes, invoices and reporting to ensure cost-effective operations and report back to the Programs Coordinator.
  • Champion customer service excellence and foster a culture of responsiveness and care.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to the Sports Programs Supervisors and collaborate with other relevant GEL teams.
  • Contribute to the strategic expansion of GEL’s Sports and Leisure programs.

Qualifications and Experience

We’re looking for candidates with:

  • Demonstrated experience in managing sports programs, competitions, events or similar leisure services.
  • Knowledge of risk, safety and compliance frameworks, including hazard identification.
  • Strong customer service and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Sound administrative skills including reporting, quoting and invoicing.
  • Experience training, mentoring and leading staff in a dynamic team environment.
  • Relevant certifications:
    • Employee Working with Children Check
    • First Aid and CPR (current)
    • Fire Warden Training (or willingness to obtain)
