About the role

This role supports the Risk and Compliance Coordinator and plays a proactive, hands-on role in implementing Glen Eira Leisure’s (GEL) risk, safety and compliance frameworks. You’ll contribute to developing and monitoring systems that support safe and accountable operations across all GEL sites.

You will help maintain a risk-aware culture at GEL, where risks are actively identified, categorised, and treated.

Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Risk Management: Maintain, administer and improve GEL’s Risk Management Framework and Risk Register.
  • Safety and Wellbeing: Implement Council’s OHS procedures across GEL operations in collaboration with Council’s Wellbeing and Safety team.
  • Audits and Reviews: Coordinate documentation for internal and external audits; conduct spot checks and operational reviews to assess risk and compliance.
  • Incident Management: Investigate incidents, near misses and hazards involving staff and patrons; escalate issues where appropriate.
  • Contractor Oversight: Support and oversee contractor compliance and service agreement obligations. Provide administrative support for GEL’s contractor management strategy.
  • Data and Reporting: Prepare insightful, analytical quarterly reports for GEL senior leaders on risk and compliance activities.
  • Training and Education: Educate GEL staff on evolving compliance frameworks, legislative changes, risk mitigation strategies and safety protocols.
  • Chemical Management: Coordinating chemical stocktakes and ordering processes. 
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Work with auditors, Victoria Police, WorkSafe, and Council's Wellbeing and Safety Team. 
  • CCTV Coordination: Coordinating CCTV requests in line with Council guidelines
  • Policy and Process Improvement: Identifying procedural gaps and helping implement improved processes

 

About You

You’re a natural problem-solver with a strong understanding of risk and safety frameworks and the confidence to engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and bring a proactive mindset to incident investigation, policy improvement and compliance oversight.

Qualifications and Experience

We’re looking for candidates with:

  • A formal qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Risk Management or equivalent, OR demonstrated experience with relevant work skills
  • Experience delivering risk management, compliance, and/or OHS systems
  • A strong working knowledge of Australian Standards and current legislative frameworks
  • Excellent administrative and analytical skills, including report writing and data analysis
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and OHS reporting systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to educate and support others
  • A current Victorian Driver’s Licence
