About the role 
The Development Engineer role at Glen Eira City Council Works Depot provides sound professional civil engineering advice on planning, subdivision and development proposals and on proposals by third parties that impact on public infrastructure.  

Additionally, assess the impact of development on public infrastructure, ensuring public infrastructure assets are designed and approved to Council standards. As well as investigate and respond to customer drainage enquires.  

Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Providing accurate and timely technical advice and assistance on matters associated with Council’s infrastructure and assets.  
  • Reviewing planning and subdivision referrals and comment on the impact of proposals on public infrastructure 
  • Reviewing and approving civil and drainage design related to large scale developments 
  • Assist in the supervision of construction of new public works required as part of Planning approvals 
  • Supervise renewal, reinstatement and/or upgrade works to public infrastructure ensuring works are completed re to council standards and approved designs.  

About you 
A highly motivated person with attention to detail as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a team. Thorough written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated customer service skills and experience.  

The following is also required: 

  • Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering (Bachelor). 
  • Demonstrated experience in review and assessment of infrastructure development proposals. 
  • Sound knowledge of and ability to interpret relevant legislation. 
  • A current Victorian Driver’s Licence. 
  • High level of written and verbal communication skills 

The position is located at the Council Works Depot in Moorabbin; however, the incumbent may be required to travel and perform duties in other Council offices and work sites.
