About the role
Our Development and Drainage Engineer provides the assessing small to large scale development projects, flood investigation and drainage solutions to improve safety for our community.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Understanding of the civil engineering design principles and techniques relevant to drainage solutions
  • Assessing and processing:
    • Point of Discharge reports
    • Development drainage designs
    • Build Over Easements/stormwater drains applications
    • Asset Consent Permits
    • development and subdivisions applications
    • Applications for consents from private developments and utilities
  • Responding to enquiries from residents, developers, consultants and internal departments in relation to drainage
  • Providing technical advice on drainage to deliver large infrastructure projects
  • Undertaking drainage investigations including minor field surveys
  • Investigating issues relating to council’s drainage network regarding design, function and capacity

About you
We are seeking an engineer with a proven background in drainage design and who possesses a strong focus on delivery and client relationships. You have the ability to communicate and establish rapport with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. You will also be proactive, diligent, and solutions oriented with exceptional decision-making skills and attention to detail.

The following is also required:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in development, infrastructure protection, drainage design, and flood investigation in urban environments in line with relevant standards.
  • Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and with minimal supervision
  • Eligibility for Membership of the Institute of Engineers is mandatory.
