  • $77K - 90K per annum (dependent on experience) + superannuation

About the role
Our Permits Officer’s purpose is to ensure Glen Eira’s infrastructure is protected, maintained and reinstated to original condition to Council standards during and after any development works. You will deliver variety of services including Vehicle Crossings and Asset Protection Permits; Inspections and supervision of public works as part of Asset Consent Permits; and Reinstatements of Council infrastructure compliance by developers.

Day to day duties include but not limited to:

  • Provide education and advice to developers regarding permits listed above.
  • Communicate with permit applicants and developers to book for inspections related to permits, bond refunds and other related enquires.
  • Determine security bond amounts dependent on risk of damage to Councils Assets.
  • Provide quotations and invoices to developers and coordinate required reinstatement works to be undertaken
  • Ensure that all works adhere to appropriate safety standards.
  • Issuing Vehicle Crossing and Asset Protection Permits and may also be required to issue Utility Works Consents and supervise reinstatement works to ensure both development and utility reinstatements meet Council standards.

About you
You have sound knowledge and demonstrate experience in the assessment of road pavements, kerb and channel, footpaths, signs, pavement line marking, fences, easements and related assets and undertaking basic analysis of the data collected, particularly asset data.

The following is also required:

  • Certificate level qualifications in a building/ surveying or civil construction discipline and / or experience that demonstrate skills able to confidently perform the asset inspection role.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting field inspections, reporting and producing written / photographic /statistical reports.
  • Demonstrated experience in organising, scheduling and implementing asset inspection programs.
  • Knowledge of engineering principles in the disciplines relating to construction and general programming of works, monitoring and supporting the development of quality assurance (QA) based services.
  • Current driver’s licence.
