About the team

The Information Governance team plays a critical role in enabling Council to manage, protect and use its information assets effectively, securely and in line with legislative and regulatory requirements. The team provides organisation wide leadership in records and information management, privacy, data protection and governance, ensuring compliance with the Public Records Act 1973, the Privacy and Data Protection Act 2014 (Vic), and mandatory standards issued by the Public Record Office Victoria (PROV).

About the role

The Coordinator Information Governance is a significant leadership role with a genuine opportunity to shape how Council manages, protects and uses its information. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, this role leads the Information Governance function and plays a critical part in strengthening trust, compliance and organisational capability across Council.

This position combines strategic influence with hands-on leadership, translating legislative and regulatory requirements into clear, practical outcomes that support the way our people work.

Working closely with senior leaders and teams across the organisation, this role will create and champion a strong culture of information governance and responsible information stewardship, while driving continuous improvement and contemporising the information governance function. This is a great opportunity to define the roadmap of information governance at Glen Eira.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivery of several key Information Governance projects currently underway.
  • Identifying and implementing opportunities to streamline processes, implement Artificial Intelligence (AI), in a safe, ethical and compliant manner.
  • Managing the operations, including human and financial resources, of the Information Governance department to effectively deliver all services.
  • Setting and monitoring Information Governance department objectives and service delivery targets.
  • Ensuring quality controls are set in place to ensure certain service levels are met.
  • Developing, implementing and monitoring records management policies and procedures in accordance with relevant legislation, PROV Standards and best practice.

About you

You are a strategic and confident leader with deep expertise in information governance and a strong understanding of contemporary technology environments. You bring a balanced approach that combines governance, risk and compliance knowledge with practical, technology‑enabled solutions that support organisational outcomes.

You are skilled at leading teams, influencing senior stakeholders and embedding sound governance practices across a complex organisation, while ensuring information assets are secure, compliant and effectively managed.

The following is also required:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Information Governance, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge and experience of records and information management legislation and governance, including Public Records Office of Vicotria (PROV) requirements and best practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in initiating, delivering, and supporting significant changes throughout an organisation in relation to corporate records and information management.
  • Strong experience with Microsoft 365 and modern digital workplace technologies, including SharePoint, Content Manager and other related modern workplace technologies.
