About the role
As a Business Support Officer, you will provide administrative support across all functional areas within the Community Safety and Compliance Department, including Local Laws, Parking and Safety, Animal Management, Public Health, and Infringement Appeals.

This is a varied and fast-paced role that supports the entire Department by delivering efficient administrative services, maintaining systems, processing invoices, responding to customer enquiries and assisting with reporting and data management.

While the role provides support across all service areas, there will be a particular focus on assisting with administrative functions within Animal Management.

Your day-to-day will include:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for animal management and pet registration enquiries via phone and written correspondence.
  • Allocating customer requests, complaints and incidents to relevant Officers.
  • Providing information on pet ownership and registration.
  • Processing animal registrations, renewals and transfers.
  • Updating registered animal details.
  • Maintaining accurate records in Council systems.
  • Facilitating refunds to customers where required.
  • Other administrative tasks based on service needs and to maintain business continuity across the department.

About you
You are a highly organised and customer‑focused professional who values teamwork, embraces variety, and applies a detail‑driven, proactive approach to delivering accurate, high‑quality outcomes.

The following is also required:

  • Experience in an administrative or business support role, ideally within a regulatory or compliance environment.
  • An interest in or understanding of Animal Management, Local Laws, Parking, Public Health or compliance-based‑ services.
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate clearly and professionally both verbally and via written correspondence.
  • Confidence using databases and systems, with strong data entry and record‑keeping skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently follow established procedures and guidelines.
