About the role
As an Adult Reader Development Librarian, you will inspire a love of literature and lifelong learning by delivering engaging programs and initiatives for adults across Glen Eira’s library service. You will provide professional information services, promote programs and collections, and foster strong community connections through responsive customer service and innovative programming.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Deliver high quality information and readers advisory services to customers using a range of information resources including books, online resources and referral to other appropriate agencies.
  • Identify contemporary learning trends and needs of adult and senior members of the community, ensuring the service wide program of events and activities is diverse and inclusive of all community members.
  • In collaboration with Library Programming staff, develop, deliver and evaluate innovative programs and activities targeted to adults and seniors within the community.

  • A friendly, team‑focused attitude and a passion for connecting with the community.
  • A degree qualification in a field approved by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) or in a field relevant to the position requirements, with some relevant experience, or diploma level with extensive experience.
  • Experience in designing and delivering inclusive library-based community programs (ideally for adults).
  • Experience in information provision and collection management
  • Relevant experience and up to date knowledge of adult literature, including reading trends and the development of adult fiction and non-fiction collections.
