About the role

We are seeking an innovative and dynamic Manager to lead our dedicated team in delivering high-quality parks and recreational services to our community. This role plays a vital part in maintaining our existing parks and open spaces while helping to create vibrant, sustainable new places that meet the current and future needs of our community.

As Manager Parks Services, you will be responsible for providing strong leadership, clear direction, and expert guidance to your team, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s strategic objectives. A key aspect of this role involves working collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders to achieve positive, community-focused outcomes.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Managing contracts and agreements to ensure services meet expected targets, outcomes and financial requirements.
  • Providing strategic advice on future parks, open space and recreational requirements and proactively deliver priorities as aligned with Council’s strategies and plan.
  • Developing the necessary policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines to deliver cost effective, quality and reliable services.
  • Leading, coaching and inspiring the Department in an environment where people’s competencies, attributes and behaviours are strengthened, and their behaviours align with Council Values.

About you

We are looking for someone who can bring innovation, experience, and a fresh perspective to truly make this role their own and is genuinely passionate about creating better outcomes for the community of Glen Eira.

You will have proven people management skills, technical expertise, and the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels. Your capacity to lead, coach, and inspire a team, while fostering partnerships and delivering on strategic priorities, will be essential to your success in this position.

The following is also required:

  • Tertiary qualification in a related discipline.
  • Significant relevant portfolio experience at a senior leadership level.
  • Highly developed political acumen and empathy with the challenges and opportunities in a municipality such as Glen Eira.
  • Expertise in strategic change management with the proven ability to drive and manage significant cultural, process and system changes within a complex portfolio.
  • Excellent business management skills with the ability to lead the development, preparation and negotiation of realistic budgets with agreed parameters as well as management funding agreements.
