About the team
This role sits within the Technology and Cyber Defence team which forms part of the Digital and Technology Services department. The team is responsible for cloud platforms, infrastructure, cyber security, workplace technology and digital services that support the organisation’s day-to-day operations.

About the role
As the Systems and Network Platform Engineer you will be responsible for the design, implementation and ongoing maintenance of secure, high-performing network and infrastructure platforms across multi-site and hybrid environments.

The role provides strategic leadership through the development of architecture standards, technology roadmaps, and governance practices that align infrastructure capabilities with business needs, security requirements, and future growth.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Troubleshoot complex issues and contribute to platform optimization and migrations
  • Support hybrid and cloud-based services, including identity and access management platforms
  • Administer and optimize core infrastructure and database platforms
  • Manage enterprise backup and recovery platforms ensuring robust data protection, retention and recovery capability
  • Provide technical leadership and escalation support to the IT Service Desk and deliver consistent, high-quality technical outcomes

About you
You have strong technical skills and knowledge, with experience delivering infrastructure strategies, upgrades and migrations.

You are a skilled problem solver with experience in stakeholder engagement across technical and business groups and are keen to increase capability across teams through technical leadership and mentoring.

The following is also required:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related discipline, and/or equivalent relevant industry experience
  • Extensive experience designing, implementing and managing enterprise network and infrastructure environments
  • Strong technical expertise in enterprise networking, including HP Aruba-based environments, and secure connectivity such as LAN, WAN, VPN, and wireless services. 
  • Experience managing core infrastructure platforms including Windows Server, Active Directory, VMware, Microsoft 365 and enterprise compute platforms
  • Strong experience managing backup and recovery platforms, including Veeam and Data Domain, with a focus on data protection, resilience, and recovery
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills
