The Community and Economic Development Department provides a range of high-quality services and settings for our community to meet, connect and flourish. About the role
As the Senior Community Planning Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future strategic direction of Council’s Community Health and Wellbeing planning and other key areas of social policy, including Community Safety, Reconciliation, Social and Affordable Housing, and Gender Equality.

You will develop community profiles and frameworks and work within the corporate integrated planning and reporting framework and respond to the organisation’s governance requirements for Council reports and briefings.

Other responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Leading and facilitating the development, reviewing, monitoring and reporting of policies, strategic plans and quality requirements.
  • Interpreting, drafting and reviewing policy, advice, strategic implementation and procedural directions.
  • Conducting research, industry benchmarking and community engagement.
  • Developing strong relationships and participating in networks with local, regional, state and national organisations in relevant sectors.
  • Meeting the strategic imperatives of the Council Plan and Community Wellbeing Plan.

About you
Working within a values-driven environment, you are known for your emotional maturity and positive approach to teamwork. Your strong communication and writing skills, coupled with a results-oriented mindset, enable you to cultivate quality relationships at all levels while supporting the Council in delivering projects that cater to our community's needs.

The following is also required:

  • Tertiary qualification in Social/Applied Sciences, Community Development or related discipline or related field.
  • Extensive experience in researching, reviewing and developing strategic directions and strategic plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret strategic objectives into operational outcomes.

Interview information
In order to best manage the selection process, all shortlisted candidates will be contacted before 5 pm on Friday 19 July 2024, to arrange an interview. The interviews will take place in person or by video conference.

The interviews will take place between Tuesday 23 July 2024 and Thursday, 25 July 2024, between 9am and 5pm.

Pre-employment checks
Progressed candidates must undergo pre-employment screening as a standard procedure which will include:

  • New National Police Record Check
  • Pre-employment medical assessment
  • Evidence of right to work in Australia.
