About the role 
We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join Glen Eira City Council’s fast-paced Procurement Team. As our Procurement Specialist you will play a key role in supporting staff as a procurement business partner across all departments with high quality and timely procurement activities.  

Key responsibilities include but not limited to:   

  • Providing procurement, tendering, contract management and probity advice to staff at all levels across the organisation. 

  • Coordinating and conducting tender processes for Council.    

  • Overseeing specific procurement projects under the direction of the Procurement and Contracts Manager. 

  • Providing guidance, education, and support on relevant procurement and contact management policies, processes and procedures. 

  • Driving a culture within the organisation of procurement innovation and compliance continuous improvement. 

About you 
We are seeking a committed professional with experience in procurement or a similar field. This role offers the opportunity to apply your expertise in establishing and managing supplier panels, as well as coordinating tender processes for a wide range of goods, services, and works, including infrastructure maintenance, building, and civil construction. 

The following is also required: 

  • Tertiary qualification in procurement or a related field. 

  • 1-2 years in the procurement field, including tendering, and contract management experience. 

  • Experience in Local or State government experience in procurement 

  • Knowledge of Contract and Consumer Law, Trade Practices Legislation and National Competition Policy. 

Interview information 
The interviews will take place between Monday and Friday 9 am – 5pm.

Progressed candidates must undergo pre-employment screening as a standard procedure which will include: 

  • Employee Working with Children Check 

  • New National Police Record Check 

  • Evidence of right to work in Australia.
