About the team
The Buildings Design and Delivery Team sits within our Project Delivery Team under Council’s Sustainability, Assets and Leisure Directorate. The team is responsible for overseeing the design and construction of building assets at Council, as well as ongoing renewal and upgrade programs for existing building assets.

About the role
Our Emissions Project Officer will be the lead on exciting projects that reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency across Council facilities. You will manage the electrification of existing buildings, installation of new solar PV and battery systems and other initiatives to improve thermal efficiency in our buildings. You will work closely with site managers and facility user groups to find smarter ways to reduce energy and utility usage.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Assist with the design and delivery of sustainability projects and initiatives relating to council buildings, including improved thermal efficiency measures.
  • Analysing and managing energy and utility data to identify opportunities for reduction and efficiency.
  • Liaise with the Climate and Circular Economy Team to ensure staff and contractors are maximising opportunities to reuse and recycle building products through capital projects.

About you
You will have a strong understanding of sustainable building practices and experience implementing these practices in building design and construction. You have advanced analytical skills and can translate data into practical solutions to manage energy efficiency projects through their lifecycle.

You understand sustainable design, are skilled in energy and utility management, and are driven by Council’s role in combating climate change.

The following is also required:

  • Excellent communication skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Tertiary qualifications in environmental management, sustainability, engineering, or related fields.
  • Proven experience in project management, including planning, procurement, and delivery.
  • An understanding of Local Government’s role in sustainability and climate action.
