About the team
The Open Space Assets and Facilities team plays a critical role in delivering high‑quality parks infrastructure and services for the community. The team is responsible for the planning, maintenance and improvement of park assets and facilities, ensuring they are safe, compliant and fit for purpose.

Working collaboratively across Council and with external partners, the team supports project delivery, manages contractors, and provides business and operational support functions that enable efficient and customer‑focused service delivery. With a strong emphasis on safety, continuous improvement and teamwork, the group is committed to maintaining high standards and delivering positive outcomes for the community.

About the role
Our Coordinator Open Space Assets and Facilities leads a team responsible for business, administrative, customer service and compliance functions, as well as the management of day labour, contractors and project delivery. You will build team capability, mentor staff, and drive consistent, customer‑focused service outcomes through effective systems, workflows, and operational processes.

This position also has a focus on safety and compliance, including oversight of Parks Occupational Health and Safety Management, incident investigations, risk management, and corrective actions. You will also lead the emergency management preparedness and response activities aligned with Council’s Municipal Emergency Management arrangements, including after‑hours coordination during incidents and extreme weather events.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Leading, managing and mentoring the Assets and Facilities team, fostering a high‑performance, values‑driven culture.
  • Promoting and embedding a safety‑first culture, ensuring OHS compliance, risk mitigation and hazard management.
  • Overseeing staff and contractor induction, training, compliance and performance management.
  • Managing capital works projects and minor park infrastructure upgrades, including design, procurement, contract and budget management.

About you
You are a collaborative leader with proven experience in asset and facilities management within a park or facilities environment. You bring a strong customer focus, excellent problem‑solving skills, and the ability to lead teams through challenging operational and safety requirements.

You have a strong safety mindset and a proven ability to implement, maintain, and continually improve occupational health and safety systems. You are confident in managing risk, responding to incidents, and leading safety initiatives that support a healthy and productive workforce.

The following is also required:

  • Tertiary qualification in park management, recreation management, facilities management, or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring and performance managing staff and contractors.
  • Proven experience in asset and facilities operations, project delivery and contract management.
  • Experience developing and maintaining occupational health and safety systems.
  • Strong decision‑making and problem‑solving capability.
  • Current Australian Drivers licence
