About the role
You will be responsible for shaping the future vision of the Council’s public spaces by leading strategy, policy, master planning and project delivery across streetscapes, activity centres and open spaces. The position combines high‑quality urban design thinking with hands‑on project oversight, ensuring initiatives are well‑designed, inclusive, safe, sustainable and financially responsible and delivered to a high standard.
Working collaboratively across Council departments, the role provides expert advice, engages with councillors and the community, oversees consultants and contractors, and ensures excellence in design is achieved from initial concept through to delivery. The role also leads and develops a high‑performing team, manages budgets and governance processes, and ensures projects align with Council plans, statutory requirements and long‑term community outcomes.

About you
You have confident and decisive leadership with sound judgement and problem‑solving capability and are able to navigate complex technical and community issues within policy, legislative and budgetary frameworks. You bring demonstrated experience managing skilled professionals and consultants, overseeing projects from concept through to construction, and driving continuous improvement and change. You are a highly organised and solutions‑focused individual, who is able to balance competing priorities while delivering outcomes within agreed timeframes Your collaborative, persuasive and customer‑focused approach enables you to manage challenges, inspire others and contribute positively to Council’s strategic objectives.
