About the opportunity
Glen Eira City Council is seeking enthusiastic, dedicated Early Childhood Educators to provide high-quality, personalised education and care for children aged 0-12 years within their own home. This rare and unique opportunity allows you to create and run your own Family Day Care service with the flexibility to set hours that work for your lifestyle.
As a Family Day Care Educator, you will have the chance to develop tailored educational programs focusing on the individual needs and outcomes of the children in your care. This role allows you to provide high-quality, flexible childcare to families in your local community while enjoying the freedom and autonomy of self-employment. As a Family Day Care Educator, you'll be responsible for things like:

  • Setting up a stimulating and safe learning environment each day
  • Creating exciting and engaging educational programs and activities for children
  • Setting a fee schedule and deciding on the hours you want to work
  • Ensuring your service aligns with the National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education

 At Glen Eira Family Day Care, we want you to succeed. We’ll provide you with:

  • Support and guidance from an experienced and professional Co-ordination Unit
  • Clear practices and procedures to guide the operation of your business
  • Ready to use forms and templates to help you comply with early childhood education requirements
  • Home visits to assess safety and assist you to create an enriching and nurturing space for children
  • Childcare equipment e.g. strollers, cots and other resources
  • Access to professional development and training opportunities

Pre-requisites

  • Must be a current resident of Glen Eira municipality.
  • Available for a minimum of three week days per week and for 25 hours per week (minimum)
  • Minimum Certificate III in Children's Services
  • Current First Aid and CPR certificate
  • Must hold certifications for the Management of Anaphylaxis and Asthma
  • Police record check (issued within the last 6 months)
  • Current Employee Working with Children Check
  • Educators must hold Public Liability/Professional Indemnity Insurance.

Other information
Police Record Checks and Working with Children Checks will be required for all people over 18 years living in the home.

Applicants must be willing to undergo a work based medical and safety check on the home.

Full orientation and ongoing training and support will be provided to successful candidates.

Glen Eira Family Day Care is registered with Department of Education (DE) and Australian Children's Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA).
