  • Band 6, $48.01 - $52.38 per hour (dependent on experience) + superannuation

About the role
As the Arts Team Leader, you will provide leadership to arts staff within the broader Arts and Culture team, with a strong focus on History and Heritage. Working closely with the Manager, Libraries, Arts and Culture, you will oversee staff across History, Heritage and Galleries, helping to bring Council’s cultural collections and programming into a cohesive framework.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Work within the Arts and Culture Leadership Group to lead collaboration within wider Arts and Culture team.
  • Plan for and instigate arts and cultural initiatives that continue to evolve Glen Eira City Council as a place where people gather for inspiration, education, entertainment and connection, contributing to the strategic goals of the Glen Eira Council Plan and associated supporting strategies and plans.
  • Deliver a program of exhibitions, programs and interpretation that attract and interest new audiences and repeat visitors, using a variety of mediums to promote art, history and heritage, create cultural understanding and facilitate community participation and audience engagement.

About you
You will bring expertise in arts and cultural programming, with a strong understanding of gallery operations and heritage collection management. You enjoy working collaboratively to deliver engaging exhibitions and public programs that inspire, educate, and connect diverse audiences. With a strategic and hands-on approach, you are committed to preserving local history and enhancing community participation through creative initiatives.

The following is also required:

  • Tertiary qualification in history, museum studies, art curatorship or relevant discipline.
  • Experience in historical collection development, assessment and recording, together with knowledge of archival principles and practices, including digital and hard copy practices.
  • Demonstrated strong writing skills for documentation of research, preparation of reports, correspondence, and project documentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and liaison skills and the ability to work well and influence outcomes with a variety of stakeholders.
