About the team 
The Project Delivery team plays a vital role in bringing Council’s capital works projects to life and acts as a central hub by transforming concept designs to detailed plans and managing construction, delivery and final handover. Dedicated to excellence, the team strives for every project to be delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

  • IPWEA Award for Environmental Sustainability for our Permeable Car Park Pavement at Dudley Street.
  • LGPro Award for Community Assets and Infrastructure (projects over $20 million) for the Carnegie Memorial Swimming Pool Redevelopment. 

About the role 
As a Project Engineer, you’ll play a key role in managing and supervising a variety of engineering and infrastructure projects, including roads, reserves, buildings, and other public facilities. 

Your work will help revitalise activity centres, support community sport, improve street safety, redevelop our buildings, and implement sustainability initiatives. 

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Coordinating and delivering projects in line with Council’s Project Management Framework and best practice contract management.
  • Assisting in preparing and monitoring project budgets to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery. 
  • Conducting site visits to monitor progress and ensure contract compliance. 
  • Preparing contract documentation, managing contractors, and supporting tender assessments. Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project success. 
  • Ensuring all project work complies with relevant legislation, Council standards, and specifications. 

About you  
You will have a collaborative approach to your work, with the ability to build positive relationships both within and outside the organisation. 

You are a proactive and organised engineering professional with a strong ability to manage your own time, set priorities, and plan your work to meet project objectives, budgets, and deadlines.  

You’ll bring: 

  • A tertiary qualification in Engineering (preferably Civil Engineering) with relevant experience, or significant experience with lesser formal qualifications. 
  • Engineering registration or in progress towards registration in line with the Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019. 
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, especially in municipal infrastructure. 
  • Proficiency in civil engineering/building design and construction principles and techniques. 
  • Excellent contract management skills, including the ability to prepare and review project cost plans, schedules, and specifications.
