About the role
As Team Leader Public Health, you will provide essential guidance and support to the Environmental Health Officers to deliver high-quality public health services to the Glen Eira community. You will ensure professional conduct, technical excellence, and outstanding service excellence across the team.
You will also focus on enhancing and developing public health policies, operating procedures and systems to guarantee efficient and effective delivery of services.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Provide support and guidance to Environmental Health Officers to ensure that Officers maintain a high standard of professional conduct, customer service and a high level of technical expertise.
  • Undertake internal audits of Officer Inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with policy and procedures, consistency and application of appropriate sanctions where required.
  • Actively manage difficult complaints and identify practical solutions or negotiate positive outcomes with relevant parties to ensure high levels of compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Review Officer legal proceedings and undertake case management when deemed appropriate and liaise with Council solicitors to ensure rules of evidence and legal practice are expertly delivered.

About you
You will have the required Graduate Diploma of Environmental Health Practice or equivalent (and is eligible for membership with Environmental Health Professionals Australia), has solid experience in Public Health Services and understands the ins and outs of relevant legislation. You are an individual who is looking for a growth opportunity in their career and enjoys mentoring and motivating others to succeed.

 The following is also required:

  • Graduate Diploma of Environmental Health Practice or equivalent including eligibility to be a member of Environmental Health Professionals Australia.
  • Extensive experience working in the field of Public Health Services.
  • High level of technical knowledge for Public Health service provision.
  • Communicates clearly and confidently, even when dealing with sensitive or complex issues.
  • Ability to problem solve and think strategically to improve public health outcomes.
  • Victorian Drivers License.
