About the team
The Civic Compliance Unit is part of the Community Safety and Compliance department within the Planning and Place directorate and comprises of 8 officers, a Team Leader and Coordinator. The team is predominantly responsible for investigation of breaches of the Glen Eira Community Local Law 2019, Domestic Animals Act 1994, Environment Protection Act 2017 and administering education and enforcement.

About the role
As a Civic Compliance Team Leader, you will be overseeing the daily operations, ensuring that all enforcement activities across the municipality align with relevant acts, council local laws, and policies.

You will also play a vital role in providing continuous support to our dedicated team of Civic Compliance Officers, supporting their growth through comprehensive learning and development opportunities.

Day to day duties include but not limited to:

  • Taking responsibility for compliance with the provisions of the Local Government Act, Council's Local Law, Domestic Animals Act and other relevant Acts and Regulations.
  • Coordinating and assisting officers when required to attend out-of-hours complaints from the public under the provisions of relevant acts.
  • Coordinating and assisting officers in patrols when needed to enforce on and off leash areas in public places and parks.
  • Overseeing the issuing of permits and supervising the placement and conditions of permits across the municipality.

Who we are looking for
We are seeking an individual who embodies professionalism, tact, and resilience to Lead our team of Civic Compliance Officers.

Your ability to promote collaboration and cooperation from all stakeholders, including management, staff, and the community, is essential.

The following is also required:

Essential
• Current driver's licence (vehicle).

• Relevant skills and substantial experience in a similar role

• Excellent customer service skills.

• Certificate IV in Animal Control & Regulation.

• Certificate IV in Government - Statutory Compliance.

Desirable
• Current First Aid Certificate

Interview information
The interviews will take place between Monday 13 May and Friday 17 May 2024, between 9am and 5pm.

Progressed candidates must undergo pre-employment screening as a standard procedure which will includes new National Police Record Check, and evidence of right to work in Australia.
