About the role
Our Senior Design Engineer will take the lead on engineering design and investigations across a wide variety of projects. You will guide the internal and external design efforts through initial scoping and drafting, detailed civil designs, cost estimates, and contract documentation.

More importantly, you will also play a huge part in lifting the capability of the team! This position will mentor junior engineers, coach peers, and help build a positive culture of quality and innovation.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Providing efficient and effective customer service to the public, consultants, contractors, and internal client groups.
  • Preparing comprehensive consultant briefs for designs and investigations incorporating the Project Brief scoping requirements.
  • Managing the preparation of civil and building design plans, specifications, estimates and tender documentation for a range of design projects.
  • Conduct tender evaluations and prepare reports for Tender Panels and Council.

About you
You will bring a strong foundation in civil design, drafting, and estimating, along with the insight and problem-solving skills to tackle complex design challenges. Your ability to navigate legislative requirements and translate technical concepts into practical, buildable solutions will be strongly regarded.

If you have worked on local government or public infrastructure projects and are confident using tools like AutoCAD, 12D, or similar design software, this could be the perfect opportunity to take your career to the next level.

The following is also required:

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering (preferably Civil) with extensive experience in civil design and project preparation.
  • Engineering registration or working towards registration under the Professional Engineers Registration Act 2019.
  • Strong knowledge of civil engineering design and construction standards.
  • Proficiency in CAD software and MS Office suite.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex design problems and produce high-quality documentation.
  • Experience applying relevant legislation, standards, and codes in engineering design.
