About the Role

As the Group Exercise Assistant Team Leader, you will support the Group Exercise Team Leader in the day-to-day delivery of high-quality, safe and engaging group exercise programs across Glen Eira Leisure. You will assist with staffing, timetabling, instructor support and ongoing program development to ensure members enjoy exceptional fitness experiences.

Working closely with Group Exercise Instructors and key stakeholders, you will provide leadership, guidance and operational support while contributing to service excellence, continuous improvement and strong program outcomes.

The role combines people leadership, administration, program coordination and direct service delivery, making it an exciting opportunity for a fitness professional looking to further develop their leadership skills within a dynamic leisure environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance and support to Group Exercise Instructors.
  • Staffing and Timetabling: Assist with staffing, timetabling and relief instruction to ensure appropriate class coverage.
  • Instructor Development: Support instructor onboarding, training and ongoing professional development.
  • Program Delivery: Provide specialist support and guidance relating to group exercise program delivery, instructor practices and customer outcomes.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor service quality, participation and customer feedback to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Program Growth: Support the coordination of new program launches, Les Mills releases, promotions, special events and community-based initiatives.
  • Customer Service: Assist with customer feedback and complaint resolution while maintaining a welcoming and customer-focused environment.
  • Administration: Assist with timesheet approvals, reporting, staff communications and operational record keeping.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure policies, procedures, safety requirements and cleanliness standards are maintained across all group exercise programs and studios.
  • Direct Service Delivery: Deliver group exercise classes and provide operational support as required.

Skills and Experience

  • Experience delivering group exercise programs and services.
  • Experience supporting, supervising or mentoring instructors within a leisure, fitness or recreation environment.
  • Knowledge of group exercise programming, timetabling and class operations.
  • Experience coordinating class coverage, staffing resources and instructor rosters.
  • Strong customer service, communication and stakeholder relationship management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor program performance and implement service improvements.
  • Well-developed organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage resources effectively and support program delivery.
  • Strong problem-solving, conflict resolution and complaint-handling skills.
  • Proficiency in computer systems, administration and operational record keeping.
  • Sound understanding of workplace health and safety, risk management and child safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Fitness.
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
