About the role
This role supports local economic growth by helping businesses succeed, encouraging job creation, and strengthening our commercial centres. You will lead initiatives that make our city more connected, vibrant, and sustainable. The focus is on building a strong local economy where people can work, live, and enjoy their community.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Deliver on key Council Plan actions annually, including the Economic Development 2024-2026 Action Plan and the future Integrated Council Plan.
  • Lead the development of strategic actions, indicators and deliverables with future Economic Development planning, including the exploration of a ‘Wellbeing Economy’.
  • Provide strategic leadership within the community to deliver place activation outcomes aligned with each centre’s shared vision, while actively marketing and promoting events and initiatives that enhance local identity, engagement, and economic vibrancy.

About you
You are a proactive and strategic thinker with a passion for local economic growth. You thrive on building strong relationships with businesses and stakeholders, creating flourishing, connected communities. Your skills in collaboration, problem-solving, and delivering impactful programs help drive a strong local economy.

The following is also required:

  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant field and/or extensive and diverse relevant experience in a field relevant to business, economic development and/or marketing.
  • Experience in leading and developing a team
  • State or local government experience is desirable but not essential
  • Victorian Drivers License
