About the team
The Risk Management team consists of the Coordinator Risk Management and the Risk Management Officer. The team’s areas of responsibility include ongoing development and implementation of Council’s Risk Management Framework and Policy, the claims management function, business continuity planning, fraud and corruption control, and annual renewal and management of Council’s insurance portfolio.

About the role
As part of this is a job share arrangement you will co-lead the delivery of Council’s Risk Management Framework and Policy, strengthen risk maturity, contribute to regular reporting to Council’s Governance and Risk Committee and Audit and Risk Committee, and offer expert risk advice. The role also oversees fraud and corruption control, insurance renewals and brokerage procurement, and business continuity planning.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Facilitating the identification and assessment of strategic risks across the organisation.
  • Assisting Business Units in further developing and reviewing operational risk registers.
  • Developing training material and providing training to lift staff awareness in areas of risk management, fraud and corruption and business continuity planning, and promote an anti-fraud and corruption culture.
  • Reviewing and planning insurance coverage to meet Council’s risk profile needs.
  • Providing leadership and ongoing mentoring to the Risk Management Officer.
  • Coordinating Council’s annual business continuity plan review, training and testing workshops.
  • Oversight of the claims management function which includes under-excess claims processed in-house and over-excess claims which are referred to Council’s insurer.

What you will bring
You will bring your previous hands-on experience and utilise your extensive knowledge to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness in risk management practices to elevate Glen Eiras risk maturity and management culture.

The following is also required:

  • Degree or Diploma in risk management or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience in implementing risk management frameworks and policy.
  • Experience in implementing fraud and corruption frameworks would be desirable.
  • Claims management experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and communication skills.
  • Current Drivers licence.
