        About the role
        In this role, you’ll provide leadership and oversight of Council’s early years programs to deliver high-quality, equitable outcomes for children and families. This role focuses on service planning, partnerships and system improvements across Family Day Care, Occasional Care and Kindergarten Registration, ensuring services are future-focused and aligned with Council priorities and Victorian Government reforms.

        Other responsibilities include:

        • Provide strategic and operational leadership for early years services and partnerships, working with the Manager Life Stages to deliver high-quality, equitable and sustainable outcomes for children and families.
        • Lead the operation of the Central Kindergarten Registration Scheme, ensuring it supports strategic service and infrastructure planning, equitable access, transparency, and alignment with future reform.
        • Ensure strong governance, compliance, and risk management, embedding legislative, regulatory, quality and child-safe requirements across all services and systems.

        About you
        You are a collaborative and strategic thinker with a passion for supporting children and families. You bring:

        • Proven leadership experience in early years or related service systems, including working in regulated environments and managing teams or complex functions.
        • A tertiary qualification in Early Childhood or a related discipline, with substantial relevant experience in early years or children’s services.
        • Strong knowledge of the early years sector including policy, funding, Victorian Government reforms, and best-practice approaches.
        • Well-developed communication and negotiation skills to engage effectively with staff, families, service providers, and community stakeholders.
