About the role
As the Senior Economic Advisor, you will lead the development, evaluation, and delivery of the Council’s economic development and business support programs. This strategic role involves collaborating across departments, providing expert economic advice, and engaging with the business community to support local economic growth.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Undertake research and collate demographic and economic data to identify and evaluate emerging trends, challenges and opportunities to support business and develop evidence-based actions in line with the overall objectives of Council endorsed economic development strategies.
  • Develop initiatives to attract new business, retain and grow existing businesses and to seek opportunities for more residents to work locally.
  • Plan and deliver economic development program and projects to strengthen the economy, create opportunities for local businesses and attract diverse investment.

About you
You are a strategic thinker who loves working with others to make a real difference in the community. You excel at turning data into actionable insights, building strong networks, and driving innovative solutions that boost business growth and vibrant activity centres.

The following is also required:

  • Tertiary qualifications in economic development, commerce, business, planning, social planning or similar field
  • Ability to analyse and interpret data and trends and identify gaps and solutions
  • Proven history of developing, delivering and monitoring economic development projects and programs
  • Experience in developing high level reports, business cases, consultant briefs and marketing material
  • Victorian Drivers Licence
