The Engagement and Insights team is part of the Public Affairs department, which is made up of a high-performing, values-led group of communications, engagement, reporting and advocacy professionals who care deeply about Glen Eira’s community. Our purpose is to build trust, helping people feel informed, engaged, heard and represented.

The Engagement and Insights team leads Council’s community engagement and corporate reporting functions, bringing together what we hear from our community and how we measure our performance. We help Council understand what matters most to our community and respond with clarity, transparency and purpose. We tell the story of Council’s performance in ways that are timely, insightful and grounded in what people care about.

About the role
As our Senior Reporting and Insight Advisor you will lead our reporting function and bring our 2025-2029 Council Plan to life.  You will take ownership of how we measure, communicate and execute our performance reporting to ensure all legislative requirements are met.

This role blends technical excellence with creative communication to establish a transparent connection with the Glen Eira Community.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Delivering strategic performance reporting aligned with the Council Plan.
  • Creating community-facing reports, including annual reports and mid-year progress updates.
  •  Assisting the executive team through a high-impact Executive Dashboard, supporting strategic decision-making with timely and relevant insights.
  • Supporting the Coordinator Engagement and Insights to lead innovation in reporting and enhance operational efficiency through continuous improvement.
  • Building strong collaborative working relationships with our Finance and Digital and Technology Services departments, with the ability to liaise across all Council directorates.

About you
You will bring your experience in performance measurement, monitoring and reporting to enhance how Glen Eira tackles our reporting framework and integrated planning. You will be an expert in navigating reporting systems, with the ability to think strategically and focus on continuous improvement.

You will also possess knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and regulatory requirements governing local government.

The following is also required:

  • Tertiary qualifications in related field along with relevant experience in performance measurement, monitoring and reporting OR lesser formal qualification with extensive experience.
  • Proven experience in delivering accurate and timely performance reporting.
  • Ability to collaborate across departments and work under time constraints with multiple stakeholders.
  • Detailed understanding of how to navigate the legislative and regulation requirements that guide the Integrated Planning Framework within Local Government.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate sensitive issues to various audiences and stakeholders
  • Comprehensive skills and experience using corporate planning and reporting applications and Microsoft Power BI.
