  • Part time 12-month fixed term opportunity. 48 hours per fortnight (parental leave)
  • $48.01 - $52.38 per hour (dependent on experience) + superannuation

About the team
This team programs and produces events and activities that entertain, engage, and enrich those who live, work, study and visit Glen Eira.

We're responsible for:

  • Programming a bi-annual Arts Guide full of events at Glen Eira Town Hall and throughout the LGA, exhibitions and workshops at the Glen Eira City Council Gallery, and History and Heritage services and programs.
  • Events include: community music festivals and concerts, cabaret, and kids shows.
  • Collaborating with and advising other Council teams.
  • Programming the annual Glen Eira Story Telling Festival in collaboration with Libraries.

Our calendar includes indoor and outdoor events produced and funded by Council, such as:

  • Carols in the Park
  • Groove and Graze
  • Under The Stars (summer music concert at Packer Park)
  • National Reconciliation Week
  • Cabaret, comedy and family shows
  • Diwali Festival at Booran Reserve

About the role
As the Arts and Cultural Programs Lead, you will champion creativity in delivering impactful arts and cultural initiatives for our community.

We are seeking an experienced arts industry or events professional who is passionate about contemporary performing arts and supports diverse artistic practices that are relevant to both artists and audiences.

Other responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • In collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, develop and implement the annual events Schedule
  • Undertake research and development into programming including attending live events where appropriate
  • Liaise with booking agents, individual artists and contractors regarding availability, negotiation of fee for service and program run order including contracts/letters of agreement
  • Work with Council’s Media and Communications department, Artists and agents, and Arts and Culture Officers to coordinate promotional material including writing copy for designated programs in collaboration with the Arts and Culture Audience Development Lead.

About you
Do you have good negotiation skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously?

Do you foster positive collaborative relationships with artists, presenters and other stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of programs and events.

The following is also required:  

  • Tertiary qualification in Arts or Event Management or related area and / or equivalent and relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in programming, developing and producing arts and cultural projects
  • Some experience working in the public sector
