About the role

As the People Development Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in supporting and shaping the workforce experience at Glen Eira Leisure. You will work closely with line management and our diverse program groups to ensure you are meeting their workforce needs and operational requirements via recruitment and training strategies, performance management and maintaining compliance requirements across our multiple sites.

A high performing local team, and extensive support from Council’s People and Culture team will continue to ensure that GEL maintains its reputation as a leading employer in the industry. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Team Coordination: Efficiently and effectively lead a team of People Development Officers, a Support Officer and Course Trainers
  • Recruitment and Attraction: Collaborate with the Council’s People and Culture department to attract and recruit top talent, ensuring that GEL is staffed with skilled and motivated individuals who are aligned with our values and mission.
  • Employee Development and Engagement: Oversee the development and engagement of all GEL employees, creating an environment where staff can thrive and contribute to the organisation's success.
  • Advice and Coaching: Provide advice and coaching to staff on HR-related queries, staff performance, and wellbeing, in consultation with the Councils People and Culture team. Foster a supportive and productive work environment through effective communication and guidance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management OR less formal qualifications with substantial relevant experience.
  • Experience in a People and Culture leadership role.
  • Experience and ability to interpret and understand underlying principles of employment legislation, enterprise agreements/awards, policies and procedures.
  • Experience in recruitment, onboarding, training and/or development of employees.
  • Strong Leadership skills and the ability to motivate and develop team members.
  • Excellent communication skills and client management with the ability to provide guidance, advice and information to staff.
  • Experience with WorkCover or Return to Work process would be highly regarded.

  • Employee Working with Children Check
  • New National Police Record Check
  • Health Declaration
  • Evidence of right to work in Australia.
