About the team
The Property and Leasing officer will join our friendly Legal, Risk and Governance team, which is part of our Customer and Corporate Affairs directorate. The role will report directly to the Property and Leasing Coordinator.

About the role
In the position of Property and Leasing officer, you will be negotiating and preparing commercial and community licences and leases, handling everything from pre-commencement requirements to signing off the final document. You will also manage our road discontinuance and sales, in line with Local Government requirements and provide technical property to internal and external stakeholders.

Other responsibilities include:

  • Handling the day-to-day management of Glen Eira’s Lease and license portfolio, including rental invoicing, collections, and renewals ensuring the process is efficient and transparent.
  • Leading Glen Eira’s annual lease inspection program, including follow up of non-compliance issues.
  • Overseeing and managing Glen Eira’s Leasing Register.
  • Supporting the development and reviewing of key property policies in line with statutory requirements.

About you
To be successful in this role, you will have solid experience in property management, particularly with community-based tenants, managing road discontinuance and sales and the ability to work with asset management systems. You will to be comfortable reading and interpreting lease agreements, Certificates of Title and be confident liaising with solicitors and consultants.

Key selection criteria

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and/or equivalent experience in a variety of property management functions including but not limited to the negotiation and preparation of both commercial and community leases and licences (as both landlord and tenant) acting as landlord and associated responsibilities, property sales and acquisitions and general property asset management.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing the discontinuance and sale of roads [right of ways] and reserves, in line with Local Government statutory requirements.
  • Ability to carry out complex title searches and research, interpret title information and provide associated technical information.
  • Sound interpersonal skills, including the ability to negotiate with tenants, landlords and key stakeholders (both internal and external) to foster positive partnerships.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively, efficiently and without direct supervision in a range of administrative and project tasks.
  • Victorian Drivers Licence

Desirable Skills:

  • Local Government experience.
  • Knowledge of property-related regulations and requirements.
